Experience Camps

The Maury Magids Foundation is honored to be a partner to Experience Camps’ first camp in Texas coming summer 2026.

Experience Camps for Grieving Children is a national network of free, one-week overnight summer camps and year-round programs serving children and teens in grades 4–12 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. Since 2009, Experience Camps has transformed the lives of thousands of young people by helping change the narrative surrounding childhood grief. Campers spend a powerful week immersed in laughter, late-night cabin talks, campfires, and outdoor adventures and form connections that continue long after the weekends.

“Experience Camps is a beacon of light guiding them back to safer waters. Where there was once despair, there is now hope. Yes, they lost their loved one, but they have gained a family, a band of brothers.”

Lori Lane,

Parent

At its heart, Experience Camps is about reminding kids they are not alone. Here, they meet peers who truly understand what they’re carrying, often for the first time. They honor the people they love, share their stories, and build real friendships rooted in compassion and belonging. By blending the magic of camp with thoughtful grief support, Experience Camps empowers grieving kids with the confidence, skills, and community they need to move forward in their lives.

We are honored to be sponsoring children that have been affected by suicide to attend camp this summer. Please reach out if you have any questions, know someone that could benefit from camp, or want to be involved!
